Northvolt's mission is to build the world's greenest battery with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy.
Northvolt Materials business unit is right now looking for a manager to build our process automation team, which should support the whole global organization with automation expertise. The team are set out to have a variety of responsibilities, both supporting already operational sites with expertise when needed as well as being part of our expansion projects. In the expansion projects, the team is expected to drive all topics related to Automation (e.g. design, requirements, supplier interactions) from RFI phase up to Functional Acceptance testing and commissioning. The team is also expected to set and maintain the overall strategy for the process automation area - which should be continuously updated and adjusted based on all learnings from current operations and projects.
Process automation is a vital part of making the world's greenest battery and it is important that you take an active role in fitting this part into the big picture for battery recycling as well as active materials development. For example, we are building one of the first European large-scale lithium-ion battery recycling plant together with Northvolt's active material production plant.
Some of the things you will do:
You will grow and guide a team of engineers through recruitment, coaching, mentoring, establishing healthy processes, and general support.
Work towards ensuring the team is aligned on business needs, delivering the expected value.
Be involved in forming the way we design and implement our systems, both through support and direct involvement in design decisions and strategic roadmap.
Make sure our way of working and agile development practices are clear, modern and suited to bring out the best of the team.
Be part of the Technology management team and cross-functional collaboration on business needs, deliverables, and culture. You will collaborate with other managers in software, material flow, electrical engineering, IT, and infosec.
Work towards building a friendly, collaborative environment in line with the company culture.
Interact with our suppliers for automation as well as keep tight collaboration with our process engineering team.

In general, you have a long experience in the field and have been part in driving large, innovative and challenging process automation projects with high demands on industrialization and scaling. Your personal characteristics can be flexibility, quality, friendliness, motivation to take on new challenges, grit and a great team spirit. Skills & Requirements
Education/Experience
Bachelor degree in Electronic/Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computing, Software Engineering, or similar.
Strong field experience from process automation
Deeper knowledge from SCADA and PLC systems , such as Siemens, ABB and others.
Experience from team leadership
Experience with suppliers and commissioning of industrial systems
Track record of being innovative
Passionate by solving complex problems with technology in a simple yet innovative way
Must have worked in multi-cultural environment
