For the last 20 years, Scania has partnered with Cummins Engine Company in a joint venture to develop and manufacture common rail fuel systems. Today this fuel system, known as XPI, is used extensively on both Scania and Cummins engine platforms. The XPI Fuel System R&D team carry out fuel pump and fuel injector product development and provide engineering support for the XPI assembly plant and XPI products used by Scania today. Being present within Scania in Södertälje allows for a closer cooperation with current and future European customers and suppliers.
The Södertälje office has grown both in personnel and capability and we are now roughly 30 employees, working in 3 separate groups. One of our managers is moving to a new role and we therefore have an excellent opportunity for a new leader to manage the team. The team consists of both design engineers and development engineers.
We work in a truly global environment with daily contact and collaboration with colleagues in the USA, India and China and with suppliers and other Cummins teams located worldwide. Being located at Scania has further developed our collaboration with the Scania R&D organization, allowing us to jointly develop and tailor future fuel systems for customers within the Traton organization. The Team are currently focused on designing and developing the next generation of fuel pump and fuel injector which will play an important role in meeting coming targets for emissions both in Europe and North America.
Your role
As manager of the design and development group (DIXV) your role will be to coach and mentor your team, providing guidance and direction to help them develop technically and professionally. You will take an active role in ongoing projects. Through leadership you will translate business goals into clear targets and goals for your team and the individuals in it. You will be a part of the DIX leadership team and will help implement the vision and define the strategy for our organisation, improving work processes and systems where necessary. You will establish a working relationship with your peers within the global Cummins and Scania fuel systems organisations, formulating product development plans that allow us to best utilise our resources.
Your profile
We are looking for a candidate with prior knowledge of technical development at either management or engineering specialist level, preferably with a good understanding of mechanical design. You should have a successful track-record of leading or influencing the outcome of projects and providing technical direction to a team. You should have a genuine interest in developing people through coaching and mentoring and be able to use these skills to motivate your team to deliver and achieve their goals. Since we interact daily with our colleagues in the USA and have many different nationalities within the organisation it is essential that you have a very good command of written and spoken English.
We offer
The opportunity to be part of a unique collaboration within a global organization where we focus on teamwork and our people to develop world class products for our customers within Traton and Cummins. We offer an open climate, where each individuals contribution is appreciated and encouraged. Even though we are a relatively small organisation we have a lot of experience and wide reaching responsibilities. We have substantial freedom and autonomy to decide how we get things done and are committed to delivering excellence in everything we do.
